In fact as of today most packed eggs come with a note that says Keep Refrigerated. This is to remind people that eggs should be kept in a safe place.
If eggs are coming directly from the farm and are not washed then they may still have that natural layer on them that is the reason in some countries people keep this kind of eggs at room temperature for a few days. But importantly once you wash these eggs they should be placed in the refrigerator. This is becasue changing of temperature can cause moisture on the egg's shell and moisture can let germs enter the egg. That is the reason the best way to keep safe is to keep the farm eggs in the refrigerator once they have been washed.
It is not enough to just keeping the eggs inside of refrigerator. You should store them in their original carton. Another this is, it is better to place them on a middle shelf instead of the door because the door gets warm every thime it is opened and the steady cold inside the fridge helps eggs to stay fresh for longer. Most importantly - the eggs should be used before their expiry date and should be check if they smell fresh once before cooking.
