As sleeplessness continues, one's body starts fighting to stay awake. He may experience micro sleep these are few moments when your brain shuts down for a few seconds without you noticing. A person who is going through 2-3 days of sleep deprivation can catch a cold easily. By this stage one's brain feels like it is losing control and concentration becomes extremely difficult and mood swings grow stronger. Many people start to feel detached or overly emotional. The brain’s ability to manage decision making drops sharply. Some people may even experience brief hallucinations that can be even a sense of unreality. The heart also begins to feel the strain because lack of sleep increases blood pressure and heart rate. The individuals body temperature may drop and muscles may ache due to increased inflammation as well.

After a Week

It is really dangerous to stay awake for seven days. The body and mind start breaking down in visible ways, how? It starts with symptoms like memory starts to fade, speech becomes slower and it becomes hard to tell dreams from reality. When the immune system becomes weak and the risk of infections rises metabolism slows, making weight gain more likely. The skin may appear tried and puffy while hormonal imbalance can affect both mood and physical health. Long term sleep loss has been linked to heart disease, diabetes and even early aging of brain cell.
