None of them work the way people think they do. The reason is physiological. The screen goes dark, but the internal state that made focus impossible does not change. You return to your desk in the same condition you left it.

The brain continues allocating attentional resources without replenishing them. Attention is not infinite; it draws on glucose and neurotransmitter reserves that deplete with sustained use. A break that keeps those same systems running does not restore the reserves. It extends the depletion under a different name.
The specific problem with social media during a break is dopaminergic. Short-form content triggers small, repeated dopamine releases that habituate the reward system to rapid stimulation. When the person returns to a task that requires sustained, slow attention, reading a brief, writing a report, solving a coding problem, the brain's threshold for engagement has shifted upward. The task feels harder than it did before the break, because neurologically, it is.
Building Pranayama Into a Workday Without Disrupting It
The practical barrier is not belief, most people who try pranayama once find it effective. The barrier is the absence of a trigger.
