Why Teacher's Day Should Be Celebrated Like A Festival

There are two types of superheroes in this world:
1. The ones Marvel makes movies about.
2. And the ones who taught us how to write “Marvel” in cursive when we were six.
Yes, I’m talking about teachers.

Every year, on 5th September, we suddenly remember how much teachers mean to us. We buy flowers, give speeches, maybe even write a sentimental Instagram caption with a quote stolen from Google. But honestly? Teachers deserve way more than one “special day.”
Because without them, we’d still be confusing “there,” “their,” and “they’re.”




Our teacher journey started with the basics:

• “A for Apple”
• “B for Ball”
• “C for Cat”

And if you’re lucky, you had that one teacher who turned “D for Dog” into “D for Donkey” to make the class laugh.
Those early teachers were like Google Translate, patiently repeating the same thing 10 times till we finally understood. And honestly, only teachers have the patience to deal with 40 kids asking:
“Ma’am, washroom?” every 5 minutes.


School teachers are basically walking memes.

• The Math teacher who always said, “This is easy.” (But it was never easy.)
• The English teacher who gave 10/10 only to their favorite student’s essay.
• The PT teacher who never let us play only made us run in circles.

And don’t forget the “Attendance Call.” That one sacred moment where our entire existence depended on hearing our name correctly.
Also, the classic dialogue every teacher gave:
“Beta, board exam decide karega tumhari life.”
(Meanwhile, 5 years later, life is still confused; board exam didn’t fix it.)


By the time students reach college, the teacher-student relationship has changed.
Teachers no longer chase us for homework. Instead, they just sigh when we don’t submit.
Some teachers turn into philosophers:
“Life is bigger than marks.”
(Somehow they still give us a zero in assignments, though.)
Some teachers become our unofficial parents:

• “Beta, eat something.”
• “Why do you look sleepy in class?”
• “Tumhe kuch samajh mein aaya?”

(Answer is always “Yes, sir/ma’am”, even if we didn’t understand a single word.)
And then there are teachers who become friends. They’ll laugh at our memes, share their own stories, and remind us that not all classrooms are about marks, some are about life lessons.


Have you ever thought?

• You don’t always see them, but you feel their impact.
• Sometimes the connection is super strong (you learn instantly).
• Sometimes the connection is weak (no matter how many times they explain, you just don’t get it).
• And yes, sometimes they scold us like “No Wi-Fi available.”

But in the end, without them, nothing in life really loads.


Teachers and students have shared some of the funniest, most iconic moments of life:

• Shouting “Present Ma’am” so loudly that they don’t mark you absent.
• Praying that they don’t ask you a question while you’re daydreaming.
• The universal ritual: hiding your phone under the desk, thinking you’re being smart, while the teacher already knows.

And of course, that one friend who’d whisper wrong answers on purpose just to get you caught. (May karma deal with them.)


Jokes aside, teachers aren’t just about homework, tests, or random scoldings.
They are the people who believed in us when even we didn’t.
That one teacher who said, “You’re good at this.” And suddenly, you actually started believing you’re good at it.
Sometimes, a single line from a teacher becomes the push we carry forever.

• “You can do better.”
• “Don’t give up.”
• “I’m proud of you.”

And to be honest, that hits harder than any marksheet ever could.


Without teachers:

• We wouldn’t know how to spell our names.
• We wouldn’t know Pythagoras existed.
• We wouldn’t know India won independence in 1947.
• And we definitely wouldn’t know how to survive viva exams.

Teachers rewarded us not just knowledge, but determination. They showed us how to talk, how to think, and more importantly, how to fail and still get up again.


On this Teacher’s Day, let’s admit it:
We joke about them, mimic them, sometimes even get annoyed at them, but deep down, we know life wouldn’t make sense without them.
So here’s to all the teachers who became parents, mentors, therapists, comedians, and sometimes even villains in our stories, but always left us better than before.
If life is an exam, then teachers are the answer key.
And no matter how messy our rooms, how late our submissions, or how confusing our futures be, their lessons always stay.
