The Gita’s Message For Those Waiting For One Text, One Call, One Sign

You’re not really waiting for a message. You’re waiting for confirmation that what you felt was real… that it mattered… that you mattered. And so you keep checking your phone like it holds a verdict. One text could settle everything. One call could quiet the chaos. One sign could finally tell you whether to stay or to let go.

There is a kind of waiting that does not look like waiting. You laugh. You work. You answer other people. You keep your phone face down as if dignity can be performed into existence. But somewhere inside you, one room remains lit for them. One small, foolish room. Still expecting footsteps.

They Know Where You Are

Bhagavad Gita 2.47

Karmanye vadhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachana,

Ma karma phala hetur bhur ma te sangostva akarmani.

Meaning: You have control over your actions, not over others’ choices or responses.

They may know your worth but choosing you is their karma, not yours.

They know. That is the most painful part. They know where to find you. They know what a message would do to your heart. They know the exact softness you carry for them. They know you would listen. They know you would forgive more than you should. They know your silence is not peace, it is restraint. And still, they do not come.

Not because they are lost. Not because life is too loud. Not because the universe misplaced your name. They know what you deserve, but knowing is not the same as choosing. Some people can see your worth clearly and still refuse to honour it. Because love, at its simplest, is not awareness. It is action.

It Is Hard For You, Not For Them

Bhagavad Gita 6.5

Uddhared atmanatmanam natmanam avasadayet,

Atmaiva hy atmano bandhur atmaiva ripur atmanah.

Meaning: You must lift yourself by your own mind, not let it break you.

Your struggle is internal. Don’t let their indifference become your downfall.

You are fighting a war they never enlisted in. For you, not texting is discipline. Not calling is self-respect. Not checking their last seen feels like pulling a thorn out with bare hands. For them, it may simply be a normal day. And that difference will break you if you keep romanticising it.

Because if it mattered to them the way it matters to you, they would have noticed the distance. They would have asked why your voice changed. They would have reached for the door before you had to knock from the other side. Love does not always know the perfect words, but it pays attention.

Why Must You Remind Them You Exist?

Bhagavad Gita 3.30

Mayi sarvani karmani sannyasya adhyatma chetasa,

Nirashir nirmamo bhutva yudhyasva vigata jvarah.

Meaning: Surrender your actions without expectation or attachment.

Stop performing for validation. What is yours will not need persuasion.

How exhausting it is to keep proving your presence to someone who already knows you are there. You send hints. You soften your anger. You wait for the right mood, the right time, the right version of them. You keep hoping that maybe one more message, one more explanation, one more careful sentence will finally make them understand.

But they understand. They just do not ache the same way. And you should never have to become louder to be valued. You should never have to stand in someone’s life like a candle begging to be seen, while they walk past you with both eyes open.

Someone Is Being Chosen Daily

Vihaya kaman yah sarvan pumams charati nisprahah,

Nirmamo nirahankarah sa shantim adhigacchati.

Meaning: The one who lets go of attachment and expectation finds peace.

Peace begins the moment you stop waiting to be chosen.

This is the truth that feels like swallowing glass. People choose what they want. Daily. Quietly. Repeatedly. They choose who to reply to. Who to explain themselves to. Who to protect from doubt. Who to make time for, even in chaos. And maybe there is someone they choose with ease. Just not you.

That does not mean you were not enough. It means you were standing before a door that was never opening from the inside. So accept it. Not because it does not hurt. But because your soul cannot keep sleeping outside someone else’s indifference. Move ahead with trembling hands if you must. Move ahead crying. Move ahead still loving them. But move. Because one day, the sign you were waiting for will not be their message. It will be your own silence finally choosing you.
