On April 6, Mukesh Ambani’s younger son, Anant Ambani, reached Dwarka on foot from Jamnagar. Now, Mukesh Ambani has visited the Dwarkadhish Temple with his elder son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. What makes this temple special? The Dwarkadhish Temple is one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites and holds immense spiritual significance in Hinduism.
The Ambani family is known globally for its immense wealth, but what sets them apart is their deep connection to Indian culture and traditions. Despite their opulence, they have always maintained a strong spiritual grounding. Mukesh Ambani and his family regularly engage in religious practices and are often seen visiting temples across the country. Recently, Mukesh Ambani visited the sacred Dwarkadhish Temple in Gujarat with his elder son Akash, daughter-in-law Shloka, and grandchildren Prithvi and Veda. The family kept their appearance simple, without any display of extravagance, and offered prayers with heartfelt devotion. A video of their visit has since gone viral on social media. Earlier, on March 29, Anant Ambani, Mukesh Ambani’s younger son, began a 140-kilometre pilgrimage on foot from Jamnagar and reached Dwarka on April 6. Now, Mukesh himself has followed in his son’s footsteps, reaffirming the family’s spiritual devotion and commitment to Indian traditions.

Dwarka, located on the banks of the Gomti River in Gujarat, is a city of great historical and religious significance. In the Mahabharata, it is mentioned as the capital of Lord Krishna. Though the original city no longer exists, a new city with the same name was later established. Dwarka is home to the famous Dwarkadhish Temple—"Dwarkadhish" meaning the King or Lord of Dwarka, referring to Lord Krishna. The temple is one of the holiest pilgrimage sites for Hindus and is also known as the "Jagat Mandir." While the exact year of its construction is unclear, it has faced repeated invasions. The original structure was damaged during an attack by Gujarat Sultan Mahmud Begada in 1473, and the present temple was rebuilt in the 16th century.

Architectural Style

The Dwarkadhish Temple, made of granite and sandstone, is a five-storied structure supported by 72 stone pillars—though some believe the number is 60. Standing 256 feet tall, its peak is adorned with a 50-foot triangular flag visible from afar. The temple stretches 29 meters east-west and 23 meters north-south. Walls feature intricately carved deities, animals, and fine stonework. It has two gates—'Moksha Dwar' (entrance) and 'Swarga Dwar' (exit). From the temple, 56 steps lead down to the Gomti River.

While the main attraction is the Dwarkadhish Temple, there are several other notable sites in and around Dwarka. These include the Rukmini Mata Temple, the Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, and Bet Dwarka—an island located about 30 kilometers from the city, which is also a popular tourist destination. Dwarka also offers scenic beaches along the Arabian Sea.

How to Reach Dwarka?

Dwarka is accessible by air, rail, and road. The two nearest airports are Jamnagar and Porbandar. Dwarka also has its own railway station. Travelers from Howrah can reach Porbandar by train, and from there, Dwarka is approximately 100 kilometers away. You can hire a car or take a cab to reach the city. Dwarka is also well-connected by road to other major cities in Gujarat.
