In the verdant landscapes of Pattambi, Kerala, a dynamic duo, Sangeeth and Kavya, has pioneered a life free from expenses. By channelling their savings into an eco-friendly residence, they now thrive on homegrown produce, cultivating everything from vegetables to rice, alongside raising poultry for eggs and dairy.
How much do you spend on a monthly basis for your home expenses? For groceries, vegetables, fish, and even for beverages? When the cost of living is skyrocketing, a couple from Kerala has successfully built a zero-cost living home on their own. Yes, you heard it right!
The couple from Pattambi, Kerala, young couple Sangeeth and Kavya, had a very early retirement plan. The couple invested almost 60% of their savings to build a home, which is now a zero-cost living space for them. As per the video shared on their Instagram page, Life on Roads, the couple has built a sustainable house that has zero cost of living.
"All the vegetables we need come from our small kitchen garden. We cultivate our own rice, and the same goes with chicken, fish, and cows. So, eggs and milk are on the house," Kavya says in a viral video.
The couple also shares that they have a biogas plant in the house, made out of wet waste and cow dung, that provides them with the required cooking gas. Additionally, the whole house is powered with solar energy. They also have a mushroom cultivation that provides them with the needed mushrooms. Not to miss, they also have beehives that provide them with 100% organic honey. Still, how do they meet the other expenses, like petrol, clothes, etc.? Well, they would sell all the above after their use and make money out of it. Simple.
Not just these, the couple also shares videos on how they get their own booze at home. Yeah, they also have coconut trees that give them natural toddy. Interestingly, they also share videos of making organic kajal, moisturizer, face wash, and other essentials that they make from the raw materials from their home. With all these in the feed, it won't be an exaggeration to say their Instagram handle is like a breath of fresh air to anyone who enters.
