Mumbai, Sep 26 (IANS) The defamation suit filed by the IRS officer Sameer Wankhede against director Aryan Khan and Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment and OTT platform Netflix, has been asked by the Delhi High Court to be tweaked.

Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Sameer Wankhede has filed a ₹2 crore defamation suit in the Delhi High Court against Red Chillies Entertainment Ltd., the production house owned by Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, over the Netflix series Ba**ds of Bollywood*. The series, marking Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, allegedly contains content that Wankhede claims is “false, malicious, and defamatory,” aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
According to reports, the lawsuit names multiple parties, including:
Gauri Khan
Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment Ltd.
Netflix

Wankhede has sought permanent and mandatory injunctions, declarations, and damages against the production house and streaming platform. He has also announced that if awarded damages, he will donate the compensation to Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital for cancer patient treatment.
Wankhede, former Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), argues that the series misrepresents law enforcement and maligns anti-drug agencies. He particularly objects to:
A character mocking him directly.
A scene where a character makes an obscene gesture (middle finger) right after reciting the national motto “Satyamev Jayate.”
He contends that such depictions amount to character assassination, potentially influencing ongoing legal cases against him.
The officer’s plea also highlights that legal proceedings between him and Aryan Khan remain pending before the Bombay High Court and the NDPS Special Court in Mumbai.
This lawsuit revives their old association from the October 2021 Cordelia cruise drugs case, where Aryan Khan was arrested under Wankhede’s supervision.
Oct 2, 2021: NCB raids Cordelia cruise; Aryan Khan detained.
Oct 3, 2021: Aryan Khan formally arrested with others.
Oct 28, 2021: Bombay High Court grants Aryan bail citing insufficient evidence.
Nov 2021: NCB’s Delhi SIT takes over the probe.
May 27, 2022: SIT files chargesheet, gives Aryan Khan a clean chit.
May 12, 2023: CBI registers FIR against Wankhede for allegedly demanding a ₹25 crore bribe from SRK’s family.
May 2023: Wankhede cites private messages from SRK praising his integrity.
Feb 2024: ED files money laundering case against Wankhede.
July 2025: CBI informs Bombay HC that its probe against Wankhede will conclude within three months.
Sameer Wankhede, a senior IRS officer, rose to prominence for leading high-profile anti-narcotics cases. However, his career has been marked by controversies, including allegations of extortion, misreporting foreign travel, and possession of luxury items.
Despite this, he maintains that the Netflix series goes beyond criticism and engages in personal vilification, which could damage his reputation and ongoing cases.
Ba**ds of Bollywood*, released on September 18, 2025, has sparked fresh controversy, reigniting public memory of the Aryan Khan case. For Aryan Khan, the series marks his much-anticipated debut as a director, but it has already drawn him and his family’s production house into yet another courtroom drama.
