While Season 3 marks the end of the series, a new movie has been confirmed by Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video to complete Belly’s journey. With Jenny Han leading the film, viewers can expect a heartfelt continuation of this beloved love story.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Belly and Conrad meet in Paris. Belly has changed a lot now she has shorter hair and she is more confident than before but their old wounds and doubts still haunt them. Under the moonlight and by the river Seine the episode shows that Belly and Conrad share their memories and they admit truths, kiss but still Belly pulls away herself. The episode did not reveal whether she will choose safety or love.

After all the heartbreak Belly realises in the end that she still loves Conrad and she chases him down at a train station and heartwarmingly declares that in every version of me I choose you so those words seal the deal and they return to Cousins Beach together many years later - hand in hand. It is not a wedding there is no ring but the story shows that their love is real and meant to last. The triangle with Jeremiah ends quietly; Jeremiah moves on, Belly moves on and Conrad is the one she picks.

The show also ties up the lives of the side characters like Jeremiah finds new love with Denise and starts to focus on cooking and healing instead of heartbreak while Steven and Taylor face the challenge of distance when Steven may have to move to San Francisco but they decide to try anyway because love feels worth it. Belly growth is more than just romantic and she becomes someone who knows her mind and her heart too.



A Movie Is Coming to Finish the Story

Though the series is now over there is more in store and Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video have officially greenlit a feature film to give the final chapter of Belly’s journey its proper ending. Jenny Han the author of the original book trilogy will write and direct the movie alongside Sarah Kucserka. The same actors including Lola Tung as Belly and Christopher Briney as Conrad are expected to return. Fans now look forward to the extra layer of closure that the movie promises.



Why the Ending FitsTo answer this question one has to understand that sometimes endings are not perfect but still they heal. Here as well Bella’s doubts Conrad’s silence Jeremiah’s heartbreak all those felt like real and the decision to choose Conrad was not hurried so the final episode of this series shows us forgiveness growth and honesty ofcourse. Belly needed to decide for herself and not for Susannah and not for expectations. And hopefully the next film to come we might see that the journey continues.
