Modern life presents many challenges. The Bhagavad Gita provides answers for inner peace. Lord Krishna teaches Arjuna about Karma Yoga. This path emphasizes performing duties without attachment to results. A yogi remains balanced even when facing unfairness. Fulfilling duty without attachment brings good karma. This principle helps navigate daily struggles and achieve mental equilibrium.

In today’s fast-paced world, individuals can get lost very easily. Distractions are everywhere. Pick up your phone and information overload will bombard your brain. For some of us, going to office may be hard due to the authoritarian behaviour of bosses. A number of people might seem very cool when we look at them from the outside. However, the internal battle that they would be fighting might be tremendous. How can we create internal balance when we are in the middle of these modern day struggles? Bhagavad Gita has clear answers. Lets explore the most powerful verse in Bhagavad Gita for developing ‘Yoga’ Mindset.

Lord Krishna About Yoga

In Chapter 2 of Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna tells Arjuna:

“Fixed in yoga, do your work, O Arjuna, abandoning attachment, with an even mind in success and failure, for evenness of mind is called yoga.”

A lot of people believe that yoga is all about asanas and breathing exercises. The ultimate goal of yoga is to attain absolute freedom from all kinds of attachments in this world. By developing total control over the mind and body, we can move closer to realising the truth of oneness of the entire universe within ourselves. To achieve the same, Bhagwan Krishna put forth the path of Karma Yoga. The Lord said: “You have a right to perform your duty, but not to the fruits of your actions.”

Modern Example of 'Yoga' Mindset

To illustrate this with a modern example, we can consider a man completing his project for a corporate firm. Through days and nights of efforts, he successfully completes the project on time and submits it. But, the boss, through his crookedness takes total credit for the project.

A normal individual going through this situation might become too depressed and may even create a ruckus in the office. However, a true yogi will remain balanced. How? Because he realises the truth that he has performed his duty, his dharma, as best as he can. His karma is fulfilled. Now, creating a ruckus based on the outcome would destabilise his internal world. He knows the truth that, for his good deeds, good outcomes will come towards him; if not today, some other day. Similarly, for the bad karma of the boss, negative outcomes can befall on him sometime in the future.

Thus, as Lord Krishna recommended, without worrying about the fruits of our actions, lets perform our duties to the best of our abilities. Then, leave everything else to Bhagwan. Good deeds will multiply and good outcomes will manifest. This is the law of the universe.
