Elon Musk’s 5 Bold Predictions from Nikhil Kamath’s WTF Podcast

In the recent podcast of the world's richest man, Elon Musk, to Nikhil Kamath, he made a series of audacious predictions. On the WTF podcast, the sketch he drew of the future is pretty shocking - a period in time where money loses its meaning, labour fades out, nation states dissolve and universities are an institution that provides status symbols. The podcast discusses topics like limitless energy, to apocalypse and its warning from AI and fertility. Here are five predictions that Elon Musk made on Nikhil Kamath's podcast.

“I’m confident that if AI and robotics continue to advance and they are advancing very fast, working will be optional, and people will have any goods and services they want.” Said Musk on the WTF podcast. It feels like a utopian world where things run solely on automation. Where jobs turned into people's hobbies because of robotics and the advancement of AI.

Here, Musk predicted that traditional currency might disappear altogether. He said, “The progress of civilisation actually depends on the control and utilisation efficiency of energy, which corresponds to the Kardashev scale: from planetary energy (Type I) to stellar energy (Type II), and then to galactic energy (Type III).”


In the interview, Musk seems optimistic about the advancements of AI and robotics but he also warned, if these technologies are misused, that can be really dangerous. To avoid the dystopian outcome from technologies, he emphasised it must be grounded on "Truth, Beauty and Curiosity."

Musk has long advocated for re-incentivising people to have children. He repeatedly warned of population decline. While commenting about the current declining global fertility trend, he said, “If this trend continues, humanity will face an existential crisis.” he goes further, “Population growth means the expansion of collective consciousness, which can enhance our ability to understand the essence of the universe. Conversely, population shrinkage will lead to a reduction in the total amount of consciousness. If we stop reproducing, civilisation will eventually come to an end.”


Starlink will soon replace urban 5G network said Musk, “The core of the Starlink system consists of thousands of satellites orbiting in a low-Earth orbit about 550 kilometres above the Earth. They fly around the Earth at extremely high speeds, thus achieving a much lower communication delay than traditional high-orbit satellites.” In the interview Elon Musk laid reason to begin Starklink in India is to soon provide low-cost internet.
