In a momentous tribute to her achievements, the state of Assam has unveiled a state-of-the-art sports arena named after Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain. The athlete shared her heartfelt thanks for this honor, which recognizes her groundbreaking success at the Tokyo Olympics.
Olympic medalist and Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain is on cloud nine after receiving one of the biggest gifts from the Assam government. The government has named a newly constructed sports arena after the boxer, and she is overwhelmed by the recognition.
Sharing her excitement on social media, the boxer said that it is one of the biggest gifts she has ever received in her life. Lovlina expressed deep gratitude, noting that athletes seldom receive this kind of appreciation while they are still alive. She thanked Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for the meaningful tribute.
"This arena belongs to every young athlete who dreams of representing Assam and India. I hope it inspires the next generation to chase their dreams with dedication," she said.

The sprawling complex, built at the cost of Rs 118 crore, stands as a tribute to Lovlina, who scripted history by winning a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in the women’s welterweight event. She became only the third Indian boxer and the first from Assam to win an Olympic medal.
The facility features a transit house, an indoor stadium, staff quarters, two lawn tennis courts, a volleyball court, a football ground, an 8-lane athletic track, and a cricket stadium building with a 5,000-seat gallery. It also includes a cricket ground and a 2,380-seat football gallery, all equipped with modern lighting systems capable of hosting state-level events.
For the unversed, Lovlina Borgohain is one of India's most famous boxers. Not only did she win the bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, making her one of the few Indian boxers to win an Olympic medal, in 2023 - she also won gold at the IBA Women's World Boxing Championship.
