Goa is the most popular destination, followed by Udaipur and Jaipur. Delhi and Mumbai also report sharp rises in searches. Global visitors, especially from South Korea, UAE and the US, are showing high interest in experiencing Diwali. The festival is now more than homecoming, it is also about travel, culture and celebration.
Diwali has always been about lights, sweets and family gatherings. This year, it has also turned into a major travel season. Fresh data shows domestic travel interest in India is up by 18% for Diwali 2025, while international searches have jumped 67% compared to last year.

Goa has emerged as the top choice for Indian holidaymakers this festive week. Udaipur and Jaipur follow close behind with searches up by 49% and 46%. The charm of lakes, forts and palaces is drawing both families and couples. Delhi has seen its travel searches double, while Mumbai recorded an 18% rise.

The interest is not just local. South Korea stands out with searches that are 45 times higher than last year. Thailand and Malaysia also show sharp growth. The UAE recorded an 87% increase in searches for India, while the United States showed a 28% jump. The trend shows Diwali is no longer only about homecoming but also about global visitors flying in to witness the festival.

According to Agoda, the data is based on hotel searches made between February and August for stays planned between October 17 and 23. The results highlight a clear shift: Diwali week has become a preferred time for both domestic and foreign travelers.
Travelers now want to mix festive joy with short breaks and cultural experiences. For some, it is the beaches of Goa. For others, it is the glow of diyas in Jaipur or the food markets of Delhi. The festival season is giving people a reason to step out and explore while still staying connected to tradition.
