Musk speaking with Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha, in the WTF podcast said, "I'm not sure if you know this, but my partner Shivon is half Indian." He added, "One of my sons with her, his middle name is Sekhar after Chandrasekhar."
Chandrasekhar is a renowned astrophysicist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1983 for his pioneering work on the theoretical studies of the physical importance to the structure and evolution of stars.

When Musk asked whether Shivon Zilis ever lived in India, he answered that her connection to India is ancestral rather than upbringing.
He said, "She grew up in Canada. She was given up for adoption when she was a baby. I think her father was like an exchange student at the university or something like that."
