The rocky edition of Miss Universe finally ended. Fatima Bosch from Mexico won the crown this Friday, defeating more than 100 contestants at the 74th Miss Universe edition in Thailand. Fatima Bosch was born on 19th May 2000, in Villahermosa, a city in Mexico. She is a pass out of Universidad Iberoamericana, where she studied Fashion & Apparel Design and then she studied at NABA in Milan, Italy. When she was just a child, her life was surrounded by severe health challenges. She was diagnosed with dyslexia, ADHD and hyperactivity. But she turned these challenges into her strengths. One of her unique attributes is, she is passionate about sustainable fashion where she experimented with waste to transform it with purpose by using discarded materials in designing. She provided service for children fighting with cancer and volunteered for years to foster environmental awareness, supporting migrants and promoting mental health.
During the sash-ceremony event in Thailand, the pageant director Nawat Itsaragrisil in a live video rebuked her. Allegedly she was not putting promotional event content for the beauty pageant. “If you listen to your director, you’re a dumbhead,” Itsaragrisil allegedly told Bosch. He later in a press conference clarify, his word "damage" is misunderstood as "dumbhead." In response Bosch replied, "I have a voice,"..."I did not give you an opportunity to talk." She added further, "You are not respecting me as a woman."
