Recently, a video of an Indian man went viral on social media and sparked discussion online as the video compares the work culture of Singapore and India.

Aman, who posted the clip on his Instagram, shows glimpses of his Singapore office while speaking his mind. The voiceover goes in Hindi, "In India, we had to beg just to get leave “Sir, I’m not well,” “Sir, there’s a family emergency.” We had to invent tragedies just to take a Friday off. Here in Singapore, I don’t ask, I just inform. After 6 p.m., my phone is mine, not my boss’s, no calls, no guilt, just life. According to Aman, relocating to Singapore helped him, in his words, biggest mindset shift. He wrote in the caption of the clip, "The biggest mindset shift I had moving to Singapore. Stop justifying your time off. In toxic cultures, you feel the need to explain why you aren’t working. You overshare details hoping for sympathy or approval." He continues the caption, stating that in growth culture, one simply needs to notify. Marking a cross sign before an apostrophe, he wrote, "Sir, can I please take leave for X reason?" then, marking a right sign, he continued "I will be ooo from Monday to Wednesday."
