ध्यायतो विषयान्पुंस: सङ्गस्तेषूपजायते |
सङ्गात्सञ्जायते काम: कामात्क्रोधोऽभिजायते ||

saṅgāt sañjāyate kāmaḥ kāmāt krodho ’bhijāyate

Lord Krishna tells us that attachments to sense objects is the root cause of desire or craving. Then, if we get denied from fulfilling those desires, suffering will follow. On the other hand, if we fulfil them, what is the outcome? The desire will spread throughout our soul like wildfire and our life will be get stuck in a loop of running after these meaningless sensual distractions.

Steps From Bhagavad Gita for Inner Calm


The key lies in not becoming attached to external elements. The first step is to filter out the elements that we are allowing to enter inside our hearts. Become very mindful about what you are seeing, hearing and reading. Only those things that enrich your being spiritually and psychologically should be allowed entry into your solitary and inner space.
