In this article, we have noted down the most significant religious days throughout this month so that devotees can start preparing for these auspicious festivals now onwards.
One of the most divine festivals of this month is Hanuman Jayanti which celebrates the birth of Lord Hanuman. However, as a result of the tithis that were overlapping, there seems to be some confusion amongst devotees. Hindu Panchang points out that even though the Purnima Tithi will start on the morning of 1st April, Hanuman Jayanti festival will be celebrated on 2nd April 2026. Religious leaders say that this is due to the rule of Udaya Tithi where the celebration should be carried out based on the tithi prevailing at the time period of sunrise.
Secondly, Akshaya Tritiya will be observed on 19th of this month. Being one of the most sacred days in Hindu tradition, this day is believed to contain Abujh Muhurat i.e., the whole day is favourable for making purchases, investments and beginning new ventures.
On 14th April, traditional new year celebrations will happen throughout a number of regions across India. These festivals include Maha Vishuba Sankranti in Odisha, Baisakhi in Haryana and Punjab, Bohag Bihu in Assam, Puthandu in Tamil Nadu and Vishu in Kerala.
Moreover, April 14th will bring into conclusion the inauspicious period of Kharmas. After this date, sacred functions such as marriages can resume. As a matter of fact, April 15, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 are all considered as favourable dates for marriages based on alignments of the planets.
